Installation overview

This installation involved setting up a 5.04 kW solar PV system and battery storage at this Chepstow Barn in the scenic town of Chepstow. Utilising 12 sleek, Trina 425W Solar Panels, the system was mounted securely on the roof using the reliable Renusol System. To prevent pesky pigeons from nesting under the panels, galvanised mesh bird blockers were installed around the perimeter.

Solar generation potential

The solar panels are expected to generate an impressive 4,758 kWh of energy annually. That’s more than enough to keep the lights on, the kettle boiling, and Netflix streaming, even on those typical British cloudy days! Thanks to the SolaX Hybrid inverter, any excess power generated is stored in two Solax Triple 5.8 kWh LFP batteries, ensuring that the home remains energised even when the sun decides to take a holiday.

Battery backup and benefits

Speaking of batteries, this system's 11.6 kWh storage capacity means this Chepstow Barn can store up to 10.4 kWh of usable energy for later use. This is perfect for evening activities like reading or, let’s be honest, binge-watching the latest box set. The combination of solar panels and battery storage provides 40% grid independence, cutting down on electricity bills and giving our customers a sense of satisfaction, knowing they are doing their bit for the environment.

Financial returns and savings

With a forecasted return on investment (ROI) of 12 years, our customer is set to enjoy significant savings on their energy bills. The expected average yearly savings are estimated at £1,565, adding up to an overall saving of £39,095 over the system's 25-year lifetime. Who wouldn’t love to watch their electricity bills shrink?

Environmental impact

Beyond the savings, this installation contributes positively to the environment by offsetting 1,190 kg of carbon dioxide annually. To put that into perspective, it's the equivalent of taking 19 flights from England to Madrid every year – but without the long security queues and tiny peanuts!

Hardware and equipment

The star players of this installation are the 12 Trina 425W Solar Panels, alongside a robust SolaX X1 G4 5.0D Hybrid inverter. Additionally, two Solax Triple 5.8 kWh LFP batteries provide ample storage capacity to cover those occasional British winter days when the sun forgets to shine.
